Terms of Service
Effective Date: September 28, 2026
Welcome to ReadLevels (readlevels.org). By creating an account, you agree to these Terms. Please read them.
1. Account
You need a valid email address (or Google / Apple sign-in) to register. That login is the Manager account (usually a parent or guardian). After you register, you create a Learner profile with a display name and a PIN. A person who is not signed in is a Guest.
The Manager account is for viewing progress, reports, and billing. Quiz answers and the Stage Portrait belong to the Learner. We do not use WeChat sign-in in this version.
You are responsible for the Manager login, the PIN, and activity under both. Display names need not be unique across the service. We do not restore access by display name.
2. How to get back in — and when you cannot
We do not collect phone numbers. There is no SMS reset.
- Email accounts: use the password-reset link sent to that address.
- Google / Apple accounts: recover access with that provider, then sign in here again.
The Learner PIN is set and reset only in the Manager account. We do not email the PIN, and support cannot look it up.
If you can no longer open the email or the Google / Apple account used to register, we cannot verify that you own the ReadLevels account and cannot restore it. Learner profiles and paid access on that account cannot be moved to a new login. Keep the mailbox (or the third-party login) under your control.
3. What is free and what is paid
Always free, as a Guest or while signed in: reading, choosing a level, and in-page audio.
Vocabulary lists and quizzes are free after you register a Manager account. Submitting a quiz requires switching to a Learner. After you submit, you see right/wrong marks, this piece’s score, and — when we can tell — the name of this piece’s weakest skill layer. Sentence evidence, why an item is wrong, and the five-part report are not part of that free result page.
The first Learner on a Manager account may unlock full learning reports on a trial: fourteen days or seven reports, whichever comes first. The fourteen days start when that Learner first submits a quiz. Those trial reports include the same report view, print, and PDF download as prepaid access. They do not include MP3 file download. A further Learner on the same Manager account does not receive another trial.
Further full reports, an updating Stage Portrait, and MP3 downloads require a valid redeem code or other prepaid access. Prices and plan lengths are shown on the account page at the time; they are not listed in these Terms. When that period ends, reading, vocabulary, quizzes, scores, and already-unlocked reports stay available; new full reports and new MP3 downloads stop until you redeem again.
4. Sign-in sessions
The Manager account may have two Manager sessions at a time. Each Learner may have two Learner sessions at a time. The two limits are separate.
If you sign in a third Manager session and confirm, we end the oldest Manager session. If you switch to a Learner that already has two sessions and confirm, we end the oldest Learner session.
Clearing cookies or using a private window starts a new session and may sign out an older one of the same kind.
5. Our materials and your use
Articles, quizzes, reports, audio, design, and software on readlevels.org belong to ReadLevels or its licensors. You may use them for personal, non-commercial learning.
Do not scrape our content, resell it, republish it as your own product, break into the site, or post unused redeem codes in public.
6. Redeem codes
A code is valid only until the date shown when it was issued, and only if it has not already been used or disabled. One code, one redemption, assigned to one Learner.
Once redeemed, access lasts for the period that code grants (for example a month or a year). That prepaid period does not renew by itself. Redeeming another valid code while access remains adds time; it does not reset the clock to zero.
7. Termination
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms. You may delete your account at any time.
8. The service is an aid, not a certificate
Reports describe how a Learner answered a given quiz. They are not an official exam, a diagnosis, or a promise of higher scores.
9. Changes
We may update these Terms on this page. Continued use after an update means you accept the new Terms.
