Bees Help Plants Make Food and Fruit
Bees are small insects. They fly from flower to flower. They take sweet liquid from flowers. This liquid is called nectar.
When a bee visits a flower, pollen sticks to its body. Pollen is a yellow powder. The bee carries pollen to other flowers. This helps plants make seeds and fruit.
Many fruits need bees. Apples, berries, and melons grow better when bees visit the flowers. Without bees, some farms would get less food.
Bees also make honey. They take nectar home to the hive. They change nectar into honey and store it.
Scientists say bees are important for people and nature. We should protect bees and the places where they live.
